Last week Kellie & Jodie, as representatives of the #ComoCrocs, met these boys and gave them some old Como jerseys. These boys live in a rural community in the desert and they were so appreciative of the jerseys and wanted to say a big thank you to our club.
A little bit about them 🐊
These young men are Anangu from the Ngaanyatjarra Lands. Their communities are Mantamaru and Papulankutja. Located 11hrs west of Alice Springs & 11hrs East of Kalgoorlie.
The visit to Sydney was a part of an education through exposure and experience trip to the Gold Coast and Sydney. Learning about health, hygiene, education, and employment pathways.
Here is a message from the organiser 🐊
‘Hello, I’m Michelle, the community youth worker. Yes, my job is awesome. The experience of working and living with these talented kids and families has been amazing. I’ve been on the Ngaanyatjarra Lands for 4 years. Mantamaru is one of Australia’s most remote desert communities. I am from Ulladulla on the south coast of NSW, and I never imagined I could live away from the coast, but the desert has a beauty and soul I’ve never felt anywhere else.
My goal was to inspire, mentor, and build confidence in every young person I work with. While expanding their sense of community and exposing them to life outside of the desert.
My goal when I started was to take them all to the beach to feel the saltwater in their hair and the fresh coolness of an ocean breeze. With the help of so many people, we achieved this goal not once, but twice, because once would never be enough.’
